STRAIN: Wizard Gum
(THCa 24.7 and THC N/A**)
CLASS: Sativa/ Indica Hybrid
PURCHASED: Mission, Catonsville
LINEAGE: Blissful Wizard X Bubble Gum
- Much like its cousin Wizard Punch, Wizard Gum combines the genetics of two legendary strains; the relative in common being Blissful Wizard is mixed this time with Bubble Gum, instead of Purple Punch.
- Blissful Wizard -50/50% Sativa/Indica
GSC x Captain’s Cookies
- Bubble Gum -60/40% Sativa/Indica
unknown x unknown
** I don’t know why Curio doesn’t list the percentage of THC derived from the THCa number. I feel that this rating dictates the strain’s potential potency and I find it quite helpful when finding strains that fit my needs.
(NEW CATEGORY ALERT 🙂
No awards yet, but my guess is at some point it will. I think the name alone deserves some mention.
Blissful Wizard is more celebrated as a high potency legend than an award winner…as far as I can tell.
Bubble Gum, however, is a highly decorated veteran strain:
~Blissful Wizard: won 1st place in the 2015 SoCal Cannabis Cup for Best Non-Solvent Hash
~Bubble Gum:Won two awards at the High Times Cannabis Cup 1994
2nd place in two categories at High Times Cannabis Cup 1995 and again in 1999
1st place in a category at the Spannabis Cannabis Champions Cup in 2005
2rd place at the Spannabis Cannabis Champions Cup in 2007

A CLOSER LOOK INSIDE: Good For Bowls but not so much for Rolls
This batch is densely cured flower which mostly breaks down to smaller, harder nuggets. Using a grinder is advised unless you are using a small bowl like a bat. In some cases this is awesome: this is the kind of bud you could probably keep in your pocket and it wouldn’t even phase it. It’s like a rock in places.
It is much better suited for vaping (while breaking down in between each sesh with a shake or a stir…or simply keeping it limited to bowls, bongs, and the like..probably not best suited for rolling unless completely pummeled, and no one wants that.
The smoke produced by Wizard Gum is not thick at all and despite its creamy sweet Juicy Fruit tinged aftertaste it is a rather harsh hitting flower that produces a thin but very fragrant smoke.
The trichome coverage is more infused with the leaf material of the bud, than a coating on the surface. The reddish orange stigma, like the trichomes, seem to be infused into the bud and are found in dense clumps throughout the marbled surface.
There are clumps of pressed red-orange stigma, and trichome coverage that almost looks infused to the flower rather than dusting the surface.

THE LONG WAY HOME (my toke)
I am a huge fan if Blissful Wizard and I regard it as legendary strain like many others due to its consistent potency. I love the way some of its euphoric body buzz seems to come in waves of sensation that course through your head and chest. I don’t know much of Bubble Gum, but I can feel its influence because I know BW so well. And, from what I’ve read, BG has a tendency to increase one’s sense of humor. I can attest to that here with Wizard Gum.
I enjoyed this strain. It reminded me a bit of Diesel Dough in texture or BlackBerry maybe. And as far as effects go it seems to be Wizard Punch’s stranger, slightly hyperactive, and funnier, cousin…a little more high energy- a bit more “stoney”’….hhhmm.
I will most definitely buy this again. I will say that the density of the buds offers a nice long burn-harsh at times- it doesn’t take much to get where you want to go, even at 24%. Where it lacks in terpenes it makes up for in THC Potency. Are these numbers starting to mean less??? I wonder…
I remember basing these decisions on availability mostly…but smell, looks, and whether or not I was told it was good or REALLY good.
Either way we are where we are now and Curio– is really one of the best – especially when it comes to Sativa and Sativa hybrids.
“hey hey we’re The Munchies …bummer?”
The effects lasted quite awhile and the more I smoked, the more my appetite grew. I’m not big on this effect with weed- and never have been. Mostly Bc it’s not my normal reaction lkke some folks no matter what the strain – I Think they expected so it’s predictive-
Also when it happens to me I feel like it slows me down and diminishes my high sometimes.
However in the world of medical marijuana this effect is vital for the treatment of so many patients with so many illness from cancer to anorexic to ptsd and depression.
And, also with respect to de-stigmatizing, this trait is fundamental as far as the benefits of cannabis go. So, I it is clearly important. This strain reminded me of Hennessy in its ability to stimulate my personal appetite.
I had fun with it and ate everything I could find that didn’t once have a face or wasn’t tied down narrowly avoiding a rebound of acid reflux.

If you want the real total thc you know you just multiply the THCA by .877 and then add THC to that number! Also very nice job on this site it’s very professionally done. I am about to try this wizard gum except the batch I got has twice the Caryophyllene at close to .7 and twice the limonene! I will be joining by your side with my channel “flowers of maryland” I will be launching on YouTube in the next week or two hopefully. Soon! No joke I’ve literally been working on this channel and preparing for it for well over three years and just finally invested in everything I needed equipment wise and tons of flower to review I will have a interesting take on the lost cause I’m sure you will appreciate.
Ha! funny you should say this, I am in the process of writing an article about potency testing. And, yes, you are correct as I understand it from multiple sources: THCA% x .877 + THC% is the standard equation. RE: THE WIZARD GUM: wow that batch does sound like a heavy hitter. I really enjoyed that strain…and will again soon:) Congratulations on the channel. keep me updated. thanks! Matt
damn couldn’t edit my last post but had to add this I totally agree with you when you said it reminds you of blackberry in texture. The batch of blackberry I have from gleaf at the moment is very similar to this wizard gum batch in that sense. The batches of cultas diesel dough I had
though very different. But you already know how even the same strain from the same cultivator could vary In things like texture/ flavor/ terp profile/ looks/ effects I mean every which way possible very much between batches. Texture wise best example of the BIGGEST shift I saw in “texture” in a strain from anyone was dosidos from Culta. The earlier batches which were phenomenal which I had over a year ago were identical in texture to cookie face from rhythm which makes sense seeing how that’s half dosidos but their recent batches some of which have been amazing again have a completely different texture and look, but you can clearly see it’s the Same genetics coming out looking so different and yet all so amazing. Hands down one of the BEST batches of anything Culta I had recently is their newest batch of gelato 25 x dosidos. I went to buy it just because I saw it had a higher than usual terp profile this batch at 2.6 and let me tell you the numbers didn’t lie but I’m not just talking Terps I mean in EVERY which aspect it is an award winning batch this time. And a much headier terp profile from their batch of gelato 41 x dosidos I have. It’s cured to perfection. The flavor is unreal better than 99.8 percent of everything else in dispensaries and it has some of the cleanest white ash I have seen in a very long time. The wombat said teehee when I smoked this.
Sam, thanks for the comment and insight into these other strains and batches. I really appreciate the input and feel it is vital for the relevance and usefulness of this site. Sometimes it takes a few sessions at different times of the day and for a few days before I develop a thoughtful and detailed opinion about the strains’ effects. It does take a considerable amount of work, time, and focus which can leave you in a vacuum of sorts regarding any objectivity about the effects or efficacy of any one strain. This can create somewhat of a vacuum so it is very encouraging and invigorating to receive such detailed and thoughtful commentary. Ultimately, it everyone benefits from comments like yours. Much Gratitude.
