Carbon Fiber – Strane

CULTIVATOR: Strane ~ Holistic
PURCHASED: Nirvana Center, Catonsville, MD
MEDIUM: Flowers

—___—
POTENCY:  23.25 THCa % | THC 0.24 %/ THCVA CBCGa %/ CBG

—___—-

CLASS: Structural / morphology of a typical hybrid (sativa/indica) but with a slightly cerebral edge to its overall effect:

MIND > BODY

LINEAGE: (Cookies and Cream X Grape Pie) X Biscotti
…So, the child of Cookies and Cream is then bred with Biscotti resulting in Carbon Fiber

EFFECTS (MIND + BODY):

Carbon Fiber’s effect stays fairly true to what most expect out of a hybrid. I would say in the effects department it seems to resemble a strain like Cake ‘n’ Chem ( also a Strane flower which I believe is no longer being cultivated). But those of you who may remember this strain you’ll find some resemblance here.
Also, I think its important to point out that Cookies and Cream as well as Grape Pie have both inherited some of its more cerebrally stimulating and creatively motivating effects from their shared ancestor, Durban Poison.

NOTE: I appreciated Carbon Fiber for its ability to steady my mind allowing me to better focus. This extended to many activities regardless of their respective complexities; I found myself  completely immersed in tasks ranging from housework, recording music, reading, watching a movie, or working in the garden…good stuff.

APPEARANCE, AROMA, & FLAVOR:

T shaped bud of carbon fiber strain grown by strane in maryland

APPEARANCE;

Carbon Fiber’s buds definitely have some curb appeal with a rather dense cakey kush-like indica structure, a complex bouquet of aromas and flavors and an equally complex effects set. Carbon Fiber’s overall effects seem to lean a little over the almost balanced effect both a relaxing body high that is highlighted by an equal and sometimes greater degree of cerebral stimulation. head high that seems to be a bit morecerebral stimulation; the ladder of which seems to tip the scale toward the head   Others may disagree and it may be dependent on batch since I only sampled from the same batch each time.

Good For Bowls and Rolls:

I would definitely recommend using a grinder with Carbon Fiber as it seems to be inherently dense bud. There are some that may suspect the use of PRGs but I don’t think this is the case with Strane’s Carbon Fiber but I could be mistaken. I could be incorrect but I think these buds have more give than buds that seem to have undergone the use of PRGs Plus Carbon Fiber didn’t seem to check on any other of the criteria usually associated with determining the use of PGRs. What are PGRs? Click her to read about PGRs.

AROMA;

At first waft, Carbon Fiber presents an earthern-“woodsy” type of aroma which soon reveals itself to be a bit more complex as its deeper notes begin to emerge.

Upon breaking the first bud apart, it becomes immediately apparent (especially ) that a bouquet of complimentary fragrances nested within like herbaceous lemon, hops, dry sift hash, and a very subtle sugary dough-like scent that wraps the entire package in a pleasant sweetness.

FLAVOR;

Carbon Fiber’s flavor is definitley informed by the earthen aroma described above but after combustion or vaping some new flavors arrive;  lemon and hash that are tasted depending on how toasted or actually ignited the flower may be. I caught some diesel flavor mixed with the earthiness from time to time.

A CLOSER LOOK INSIDE

Carbon Fiber’s Terpo-Chemical Profile:

TOTAL TERPENE PERCENTAGE: 2.69%

TOP TERPENES:

1. Limonene 0.83%
2. Beta-Caryophyllene 0.63%
3. Alpha – Pinene 0.30%
4. Beta – Pinene 0.23%
5. Linalool 0.11%
6. Myrcene 0.07%**

*Humulene is the name for Alpha-Caryophyllene. This will bolster the anti-inflammatory effect produced by Caryophyllene in its Beta form.

** The list is extended to include number six because I believe Fiber’s lack of Myrcene (at least this batch) is illustrative of how different terpene profile’s can have equally different effects. This can offer an obvious highlight to a strain’s roster of effects giving it an edge to its overall effect. Take two strains with somewhat similar genetic backgrounds, both hybrids. Both strains have similar terpene profiles with the top 3 terpenes being Caryophylene, Limonene, and Myrcene. However, one of these strains has a markedly higher than average level of Linalool which typically tests so low its presence is negligible. Linalool is a popular terpene in the perfume and therapy  industries (among others) and is valued for its relaxing and soothing effects. This strain may be the more relaxing of the two due to this higher level of Linalool.

PACKAGING:

I’m sure Holistic/Strane saves money with the ziplocks. I can’t believe its come to this but paying $35 for an eighth Carbon Fiber felt like a an economical, money saving, ….deal.

CONCLUSION:

title image of carbon fiber bud from three quarter rear view revealing its main stemCarbon Fiber is the hybrid result from first breeding Cookies and Cream x Grape Pie and breeding the offspring with Biscotti a beloved desert strain famed for its delectable flavor and euphoric effects. The Cookies and Cream as well as the Grape Pie originate from a long line descended from Durban Poison and this is what provides Carbon Fiber with its energized and uplifting cerebral effect.
This motivating elevated “head buzz” is supported by an all over physical euphoria the bulk of which is most likely supplied by Biscotti known for its relaxing body high. Carbon Fiber’s aroma holds notes of a petro-chemical aroma intermingled with traces of herbaceous lemon and an overt earthiness which translates to its flavor on exhale.
Individuals seeking an all-rounder strain capable of checking all the boxes will be pleased with Carbon Fiber’s ability to elevate mood, stimulate creativity, while simultaneously relax the body and mind. this decadent pairing of rich genetics is sure to surprise and please newcomers as well as the seasoned cannabis aficionado.

THE LONG ROAD HOME (My Toke)…

Carbon Fiber was interesting mostly for the fact that I felt a familiar focused motivation that I usually seem to acquire when medicating with GSC (Girl Scout Cookies) or another strain with traits inherited from Durban Poison. In my mind, I theorized that this may be attributable to sharing similar genetics; Both Cookies and Cream and GSC are bred from Durban Poison which is known for its uplifting and motivating cerebral focus.

carbon fiber budsCarbon Fiber didn’t uplift me enough to engage in more physical activity than normal, but the enhancement of focus was fully present; I found myself completely engaged in my present activity whatever it was at the time; And I found the effect to be mostly useful and productive. I usually feel Strane has some of the most consistent flower in Maryland and Carbon Fiber was as well. I wouldn’t say it was special per se or unique let’s say…

small bud of carbon fiber with dark rust colored stigma and shaped like a flame…At first it definitely sharpened my focus but after a few days that turned into a sort sedentary cerebral rather than one that would inspire me to create.

All in all I enjoyed Carbon Fiber very much. I suppose that after about a week the luster dulled a bit simply because I wanted to try something new but I would fine if I was stuck with Carbon Fiber as my mainstay for quite awhile.

Ultimately my instant and lasting affection for this flower from Strane is it’s ability to fit into any scenario socially, mentally, emotionally; want to be inspired, active….creative? just ingest micro to medium doses; If you need to physically checkout, remain pleasantly immobilized and nested? Ingest more…

title image of carbon fiber bud from three quarter rear view revealing its main stemCarbon Fiber’s high levels of terpenes Limonene and Caryophyllene matched with atypically high concentrations of both Pinene A and B is what gives this flower’s effect its edge. As stated previously; this is strain easily modulated by dosage; small to medium you will feel the propellant behind the haze; ingest higher levels and that same spark is there but it will soon be replaced by a stoney “placid-in-place” feeling. Carbon Fiber by Strane is a standout in the current and often times weary flower roster in Maryland’s cannabis marketplace. Enjoy!
